Advise please Dell laptop

I have a Dell Studio 1737 laptop with a two year extended warranty which has six months to run. but the screen / lid has become loose, I contacted Dell yesterday and they informed me that this is normal wear and tear and is not covered under warranty, yet the two other laptops in our house have had the screens replaced under warranty i know from having three studio laptops in our house that this is a problem with Dell studio laptops. So is the screen covered under warranty and where do i go for help now?

My view is that there is a difference between a screen lid becoming loose and having a screen replaced for whatever reason (ie: a fault developing with the screen itself) under Warranty. I would have to agree with Dell as regards to "wear and tear" A local computer shop should/may be able to help you out.

Go back to them and complain! We have had three Dell Studio laptops with loose hinges repaired under warranty in this household, latest was last November.

I too had two dell studio laptop lids replaced under warranty but for some reason they are telling me that this one is not covered, yet there is 151 days remaining on the extended warranty.
