advice on usb video capture

  bta1 23:23 30 Oct 2005

Previously i thought you had to buy a capture card and dismantle your PC.

Clearly now days you don't.

But are the USB devices much of a muchness, or not. Which one should i plump for, and what should i be looking for. I want to transfer a tonne of tapes (recorded off telly) onto DVD.

I use XP and i don't want to spend a massive amount. Where should i be looking?

I've a simple Win TV USB that will do what you want. I've also put a feed to it from the modulated output of a Hauppauge DEC 1100T Freeview box, and it works just fine for capping.

Others may well have different suggestions, but regardless, it might be worth looking for something compatible with DScaler. click here click here

I have found that once the sound issues are overcome I can get far more superior results with that than something with a pretty GUI that came bundled.
