ADSL filters help

  Bike-it 19:10 07 Mar 2008

My new ISP ukonline tell me that the reason i am getting constant dropped connections and slow speeds is that the ADSL filters are now past their best and they need to be replaced, are they having a laugh?

hwo long have you had them for?

Not exactly, but different filters can make all the difference to performance. Even the same filters replaced on different phones within your home setup, if you have more than one phone.

Disconnect the ring circuit (tag 3) on all sockets.

If you have a phone connected in any xtn socket after the main point, you should not disconnect tag 3 otherwise that phone cannot ring.

I have the filters approx 5 years

Maybe time for new ones then, they are not expensive and could I guess be an improvement.

There is a ring capacitor in filters these days.

I have been trying the new filters for the last few days and the problem still exists, my isp now wants me to download the latest drivers from netgear if this fails then then want me to buy a new telephone extension cable and router claiming that the one i am currently using may be past its best, where do these people come from. i think its time to request my mac code, although im am only into the third week of a twelve month contract, this should be interesting.
