I cannot remember the name of the PCI card that you need have to install a third IDE hard drive.

What is the name of this card?

Any recommendations?

What other drives do you have ?

you can have a total of 4 without expansion cards

adding a third drive is ok without other cards if you only have a CD or CD-RW, but not both....

Oh i know.

I have two HDD's

CD-RW Drive

DVD Drive

Hence my PCI card. ;-)))

.... each IDE 'channel' (the sockets on the motherboard) will support 2 drives, total 4.

if one channel has say HD1 and HD2, then the other channel could have CD1 and CD2, or in your case CD1 and HD3.

post back with more info

i'd replace the smaller of the HD's with a 'biggy', i'm not sure if windows is optimised for >4 ide devices, how does the BIOS cope, someone else will know better than me

Additional IDE controller cards have their own BIOS.
