How do I add a programme to the systems tray on the task bar in w98.

It's a back up programme that needs to be running from startup, so I can schedule the times for backing up.

You can't (generally) unless the programmer has built this into the program.

Add the program into the startup group

You can schedule times for the back-up program to run, using the standard windows task manager - then you don't need the back-up program open all the time.

Start - programs - accessories - sysatem tools - scheduled tasks.

PS - read the program documentation carefully - it may be that when you set scheduled times for the backup, the program is designed to wake up and do it - in fact it must be, or it must use task scheduler, otherwise the scheduling facility is useless.
