Ad-aware will not update

  obbit 14:11 06 Jul 2004

I'll try again !!! I have posted this fault before. It has been suggested that it is NTL at fault why I can't update Ad-aware. Is anyone else using NTL having problems updating? There has been 3 updates in 2 days I haven't been able to get any of them. I have tried updating manually but winzip only unzips the update I already have.

Is Ad-Aware being allowed access through firewall?

  obbit 14:27 06 Jul 2004

Yes. I get some updates.

Where does Winzip come into it?

Ad-aware updates automatically, if updates are available, after you have clicked the Check For Updates Now button.

Just removed ref file 01R326 from adaware folder. started adaware error no ref file. ok click update O1R329 available, update, i've got O1R326 again.

There are 2 ways of updating Ad-aware. The automatic method from the interface or manually from lavasoft in the form of a zip file. Unzip and place in the lavasoft folder C/program files/lavasoft/adaware 6. It should replace the older ref file. Mine doesn't I keep getting 01R326 all the time even when I download 01R329. I've missed 01R327 and 01R328 unless i can manage to solve the problem.

Here on NTL 600k BB. Have just checked Ad-aware 6
Personal build 6.181 and it was showing last update as 01R324 22.06.2004. New reference file available
01R329 06.07.2004. Have just downloaded this now and it has installed. I presume that 01R325 to 01R328 will have been included in the latest update.

....I do not delete items from the Ad-aware folder.
Just bring up the Application window and click on
"Check For Updates Now".

Well, if that's the case, why not just open up Ad-aware, click on Check for Updates Now and let Ad-aware do it for you (as also pointed out by Seashanty)?

It's the first I've come across anyone using a zip file to update Ad-aware (always something new to learn) but it does seem, on the surfact, to be an utterly pointless waste of time...:-)

In fact I've just done the 330 update - took only a few seconds - and then closed Ad-aware down again.
