I have a serious computer crashed & when I restarted it,I had lost half my desktop icons & also cannot start Internet connection although Telewest say it is connected their end. My virus protection is up to date. When u click on start button nothing happens!! If u D/click My Computer, it opens saying " Your current Security Settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.As a result, the page may not display correctly". This happens on anything you click on. I cannot open anything!! Does anyone know what has happened. I havnt lost anything on my Hard drive because it shows its there but ActiveX wont allow me to open anything. I am using my Bruvs comp to write this so it may be a few days before I can reply..Thanks. My computer is Windows ME.

Doesn't ME have System Restore? If so have you tried going back to a restore point?

no im sure ME does not have system restore but im pretty sure it has a "2nd chance" option.

My system used to run off ME but i converted to XP but i can dig out the old ME manuel and confirm.
