I need to reset to factory default but all instructions say to hold alt and F10 to get into the repair partition but nothing happens. When the laptop starts a message appears saying the pc needs to be repaired Bcd is missing error 0xc000000d. No repair disks are available. Does anyone know a way to get into the recovery partition?
it is an Acer V3-571 laptop
Did you try holding the alt button down at start up then keep tapping F10 instead of holding it down.
What is the Operating System on Disk?
Insert the Windows 8 or 10 installation media and boot the computer using the disc or USB stick.
Boot using the Windows installation disc or USB stick, on the Windows installation window, click on Repair your computer.
Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options. First try the Automatic Repair.
If that does not help, then select Command Prompt. Enter the following four commands into the prompt.
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
pressing enter after each one
- Exit command prompt and reboot with out the DVD or USb stick, hopefully it should now boot to Windows .
Windows 8 installation media
windows 10 installation media
Thanks Fruit Bat /\0/\ that is exactly what I have done
so do you still need to reset it?
no once it had run the fix bcd I then got the option to do a clean install
