Acer predator laptop cd drive not working

So over a year ago I got an Acer Predator laptop and the CD drive worked fine. I quickly replaced it for the fan they had provided as it would be more useful. However, after I swapped them, when I put the CD drive back it makes noises but it doesn't read anything and doesn't appear in "This PC". Can anyone suggest how to make it work?

Thank you for reply, that didn't make any difference sadly.

There is no screw. You just push it into the slot and it locks in. There is just a button to push down to unlock it and swap the fan in.

None at all.

Yep, doesn't change it.

Are you sure that you have connected all the relevant cables?

I'm not sure what you mean by Disk Management. What do I need to do?

To the other person, there are no cables to connect, it's a drive you slot in to the laptop.

It doesn't appear to be there sadly so here is the picture.

Then make sure that all its contacts are clean. Rub them with a pencil
