Acer one netbook wireless problem.

  Daxsimus 17:10 25 Jan 2010

Hi all,
I have just bought a refurbished Acer one netbook AO531h.
The problem I'm having is that it will not connect wirelessly.
I have gone into device manager and found the network adaptor which is: Atheros AR5007EG. When I click on to look at the status of the device it says it is enabled but "This device cannot start" (code 10).
Any ideas how I can resolve this? Thanks

what operating system is it?been looking and can't find much but go to your wireless adapters properties and if there is a powersaving mode turn it off.also look into your power settings to see if there is anything in there about wireless settings.not a lot of help but worth a look

also update all drivers if you have a wired connection

There is a switch bottom right on the front is it switched on?

OS is Win XP.
Yes I've turned the switch on at the front but makes no difference.

Turning on the wireless card switch on the laptop only turn on the “Wireless Card Antenna”

Check that the wireless card is Enable from inside the Network Connection Area

Start – Setting - Network Connection - Right click - Wireless Area Connection

Enable or Disable as required

Most times you have to Disable and re-Enable before the card will connect to the wireless network

>>> "This device cannot start" (code 10)

This suggests the Wireless Network Adapter isn't installed properly and, until this issue is resolved, nothing you do to try and connect with it is going to work.

Make sure you have the necessary drivers for it (download from the manufacturer's website if necessary), uninstall it in Device Manager, reboot to let Windows "find new hardware" and reinstall it.

Hi done all that and it's still not working. Any other ideas? Thx

I acquire my Atheros drivers from click here and they work. Why not download this one and install it. If that doesn't work I think the WiFi card may be faulty.
