My friend has an Acer laptop, spec intel i3,8gb ram,1tb hard drive

He asked me to look at his laptop as he's having problems with internet

Edge browser doesn't open at all,Firefox comes up internal server 500 error, but if I click on another tab it works

Looking at network settings gives the connected message

Any help appreciated

First - power - restart (not shutdown)

see if edge works then.

Check Network & Internet - Proxy, in Settings, in case a proxy server has been set-up. Malware can sometimes do this.

Hes come back to me and said there is no proxy server set up

OK, Seems a corruption in Internet protocol for some reason. Ask him to open CMD as administrator and type or copy and paste netsh int ip reset resettcpip.txt then press enter. Then restart, not shutdown, the laptop.
