Acer Aspire 5920G Screen Not Working

  DrLyno 00:12 21 Nov 2018

My Acer Aspire 5920G has been working perfectly from 2007 until now. I use it as a secondary computer for a specific reason but I can't afford to replace it.

Today the screen went really funny and I restarted it. Now, when it loads up the screen just appears dark grey followed by green lines that appear vertically which develops into the screen in the image within a couple of minutes.

Rebooting it, letting the battery drain and restarting, etc all don't work.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this computer screen?

Two things:

  • I can't replace the screen myself, I've looked at videos and it is too complicated for me and wouldn't be worth my while chancing it by ordering a new screen.

  • Costs of a repair shop wouldn't be worth my while. I would be as well buying a new cheap laptop considering how old it is.

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this problem, even temporarily, outside of the two things above I honestly would be so so appreciative.

Thank you so much in advance.

Have you got a spare monitor?

I have tried connecting the laptop to my TV using a HDMI cable but the TV just said no signal detected.
