Acer Aspire 3000 Bios Password

  Goolie 19:50 07 Feb 2008

A friend of mine has an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop which has had the bios password changed to an unknown.
I need to reset the bios (This cannot be done by removing cmos battery) Does anyone know how to do this?

SOLUTION -1. You can reset bios password in two ways. 1. Open back cover of laptop, 2.Pull cmos cell from motherboard, wait for 15 minutes then put it back. 3. The computer will not ask password.

SOLUTION -2. Using jumper settings 1. Find the jumper on the motherboard named clear cmos it has 3 pin .1-2-3 2. Place jumper in 2-3 position. 3. Then put it in 1-2 position again.

SOLUTION -3. You can also check another solution by clicking Bios password Recovery

I hope it helps. If you would like to vote for the answer, this will help the others to see the similar problems solved and also will be a satisfaction factor for me to continue helping you. All the best.

Looks like sophiaolia has already had one post removed probably as spam so can only think most of his posts are the same so maybe best ignored.

BIOS passwords are usually locked into the BIOS chip so if you do not know the password then its a chip renewal.

Don't know if a BIOS flash to a later BIOS version may remove the password.

Some info / programs to try info info2 info3
