how do i change or clean the keyboard on my acer aspire laptop.
i spilt some wine over it and luckily the laptop is fine apart fro a couple of keys that for some reason do not function correctly.
allthough the keys are not stuck down i have been told that the wine is causing a bridge between some keys and needs cleaning.

The machine will need dismantling - are you upto it?

The key board is a vynil membrane with contact points that touch a circuit board to make contacts.
Sounds as though some liquid has got through and dried out between the membrane and board below.

If you quake at the thought, get your self a copy of
MicroMart from the Newsagent - comes out weekly on Thursdays.
Lots of repairers, parts suppliers etc there.
Will cost you though.

can you tell me how to do it myself then.

Most lap tops come apart from the bottom up.
turn it over and you see the screws.
Suggest though you give serious thought before you start. The battery will have to come out and the hard drive.
Iake a look at click here
You may see some practical help there.
illustrations perhaps
I wont go further than that here.
