A colleague has this PC, click here and we're trying to get a microphone working on it for Windows Messenger. There is no mention of a microphone in Volume Control options. All I can gather is it has onboard sound.

The Acer site, acer.co.uk, is not responding. Any suggestions, please?

Hi, add a Soundblaster soundcard and that will give you mic capabilities aplenty.

Cheers.

ps - Audigy2, I couldn't think of the name a moment ago. :-))

Thanks, I have a spare sound card, I just thought a new PC would at least have a mike input!

I guess normally yes, but not always necessarily so - as the song goes.

Cheers.

I just read the specs again - it mentions Headphones but nothing about mic.

Just a thought-- I presume that the in-built sound card has a sound out, mic in and line in.Are you sure you are using the mic in socket, not the line in one.

Just seen it myself - 'Interfaces' - 2 X microphone. It must have a socket, but no volume control. How strange.

Thanks, the sockets must be round the back. I'll have a look tomorrow.
