Accidentally merged Favorites with user profile

I don't know how I did this, but I need help undoing this. I changed the location of my Favorites from C:/Users/myname/Favorites to D:/Users/myname/Favorites to see if I could free up some C drive space. My plan was to move my desktop, downloads, and so on if it worked. Then I recognized that my data might not be secure to my user profile, so I attempted to move Favorites back to the C drive. Now my profile is called Favorites... what the wha?? C:/Users/Favorites/ and everything in my profile is under Favorites. I tried to move it correctly this time by using the restore to default option, but Windows won't allow it. I might not have known what happened, but I get an error when I open Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer and other things in my profile that are links. Any ideas how to fix this? I don't think creating a new profile is an option because this is my work laptop and funny things might happen. BTW, this is a Win7 machine. Thanks for any help!
