Accessing floppy disc Win XP/ Win98SE

  aitch 20:37 31 Mar 2004

I use WinXP at home and use Win98SE in work. Sometimes I bring stuff home on a floppy disk to continue the work and have no trouble in doing so. However, this evening when I inserted the disk and tried to open it, I was given a number of options from 'Format, not recognised, drive not accessible'etc. Both systems are up to date with udates, virus etc and I have no previous compatability problems. I have tried accessing the floppy via explorer, as well as word and excel but have failed. Any ideas as to how i can access the floppy?
Any help much appreciated,

Floppy disc's are not a reliable form of saving work to. You should create two disc’s at least if you need to access them, so if ones bad you may be able to use the other
