Access form

  Pete1 19:01 04 Apr 2003

i have created two tables, one for clients and one for products that we offer. I have produced a client form to update the address fields etc. in the client table and additionally I wish to add to the form those product which this particular client has bought as per the products table. However i have run into problems if i use a command button and point the data at the products table because it cannot differentiate between each client.

I am sure there is an easy solution, but your help would be appreciated

You may need to brake down the tables a little further Pete1.

Remember Normal Form procedure in constructing a relational database. What relationships have you got with the two tables?

You need more tables.
Table_A to hold the client information
Table_B to hold the product information
Table_C to hold the order information, linked as a 1 to Many to table_A
Table_D to hold the ordered products, linked 1 to many to Table_B and linked 1 to Many to table C.

This means you will be able to have a coustomer with many orders, each order containing many products.
