I think i read this late at night so it might be total crap but ill ask anyway. Is it possible to 'flash' a 9800xt to the new 800xt or wotever its called.

Why? Thier in different leagues...

The x800 has an entirely new achitecture.

What I think you did read was that you can flash the X800 to the XT variant.

I have just bought an ATI Radeon X800 Pro and I was also wondering how risky it is flashing your graphics card BIOS to try and enable the 4 disabled pixel pipelines?
Has anyone managed to do this or is it just not worth the risk?
I would rather have the 16 rather than just the 12!
I would have probably bought the Extreme Edition but they are still nowhere to be seen!

On second thoughts after reading a posting on this Helproom Forum I have come to the conclusion that it's too risky!
I don't have a Sapphire make of card but a Powercolor and the BIOS/firmware notes say that it has ONLY been tested on a Sapphire so IMHO it is not worth the risk!

I can lend you a PCI graphics card so you can reflash the BIOS from the backup you created 1st. :-)

Thanks for the offer of a lend of a PCI graphics card but I really don't understand WHY I would need it in the first place!
Even though I consider myself of average capabilities I think I am out of my depth here!
