80GB hard drive but only 40GB is being used.

  yuffy 14:24 12 Nov 2003

I have just done a system check & have found out that I have an 80 GB hard drive.
The PC only shows C drive with 40GB.
Any ideas how I can get/use this other 40GB.

You don`t say what OS ! But if you fdisk with win98 startup disc, you will find your disc information and the missing 40gb... take it from there...

My apologies for omitting the O/S

Take care there may be an hidden Partition, if you have a Recovery disc. The way to find out is to get Partition Magic

If there is a hidden partition it won't be 40 GB in size..What filing system do you have - NTFS or FAT 32? Remembering 40 GB is the limit for FAT 32!! (technically)

To be fair I didn't set this one up & it's been playing up a little (the other halfs PC) so I had to resolve a few issues. When I done a system check that was when i discovered that the hard drive was 80Gb not the 40GB that showed as C drive.
