I recently rebuilt an old HP Z400 workstation into a gaming PC, and with it I changed the rear chassi fan. The new fan was a 3 pin fan, so it wouldn't fit into the 4 pin rear fan motherboard connector. I instead plugged it into another fan connector on the motherboard. Now i get the message "512 - Rear chassis fan not detected" everytime i boot which is kind of annoying since you then have to press f1 to boot. There doesn't seem to be a BIOS setting to disable this message. Ive come up with a possible fix for this issue though; cutting the 4 pin connector off the old fan and use it as a plug to disable the message. Would this work or would it mess up my PC?
