3 versions of Epson R285 printer?

  Trikie 22:12 13 Dec 2008

My well used Epson Stylus Photo R220 has thrown up a message that it needs a service which I have interpreted as "time to buy a replacement".
As far as I can see the current equivalent is the R285.

Sellers (dealers as well as e-Bay) refer to either R285, Stylus R285 or Photo Stylus R285 and one of the specialist ink sites listsone ink as being suitable for all 3.

Are there really 3 versions?

Thanks. I had downloaded and tried this but in Ressetter it correctly identifies the ink cartridges but on trying both Check and Write I get the message Device Not Found. There does not seem to be any Help facility - or at least I can't find it.

Have you loaded the program -and selected the printer model - then right clicked on the bottom bar icon to access the facilities ?-
I ask because it is not always apparent what to do.

You can also rest the counters by switching off -
holding down both ink and paper button and then switching on.

If you are also useful with small tools this little divice to make and fit will solve the problem- once the counters have been reset

If you are considering a new R285 then you may find this of interest.

I took advantage of the deal last month and, thus far,am delighted with the results.
The continuous ink supply system works a treat.
