24 hr Time in Excel 2003

  johnincrete 01:57 14 Jul 2010

All I want to do is enter a time in 24hr format with no seconds e.g. 02.30
I've tried all the time formats with no success - the closest was using a general format which dropped the first zero. Some took the entered 02.20 and changed it to 7.30!
Such a simple requirement with no obvious solution.

[hh]:mm is the format, pop into the custom format and when entering the time in Excel you must use the colon :

The brackets ensure when adding up totals exceed 24 hours

a format of;

will give a DURATION in hours and minutes,
eg entering 25:00 will give;
25:00 that is 25 Hours

whereas a format of;

will give a TIME in hours and minutes,
eg entering 25:00 will give;
01:00 that is 1:00AM.

There is no such "time" as 25 o'clock, but there is such a thing as 25 hours duration.

Hope this helps,
