2 ISP's - same phone line!

  [email protected] 10:29 21 Oct 2006

Is this possible? Strange question and maybe obvious, but...
A friend has changed is address [geographical], and and informed his ISP of his new address and telephone number.
His new address is that of his girlfriend, who has already a different ISP on the telephone line.
He has asked me to pop around this afternoon to help him set up his Internet connection but before I go, am I likely to run into this "dual ISP" problem?
Thanks to all the forum users who take the time to read and respond to my never ending obtuse questions ;-)

If they`re both Broadband ISP`s it won`t work - you can`t have two on the same line. If you`re talking dial up it won`t make any difference but begs the question "why pay for two services".

yes and no chance unless one is dial up and the other broadband, two broadbands is a no no cos only one isp allowed on a line.

Thanks Taff™ and johnnyrocker. Thought there may be more to it than meets the eye. Your speedy and lucid posts are much appreciated.
