100% Disk Usage - apps doesn't seem to be using it

  emmcr 15:39 24 May 2019

I apologise in advance if there is a simple explanation for this - unfortunately I'm not very computer savvy, so please bare with me

My laptop has been having periods with really slow response times, whenever i click to open an app or try ctrl-alt-del it takes forever to load. the problem seems to be that the disk usage is 100% but when I look at the list underneath, the highest taxing app only seems to be using 2%.. is there something I can do to stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance :-)

have a look in processes and see if windows is indexing the drive.

Thank you - I have turned off indexing for now as I don't use the search function and have very little on my laptop - no problems so far! Thank you for your help
