What Modifications Should Be Made to Gamespot's Cheap Gaming PC Build Model?

I've come across this article on how to potentially build a fair gaming PC for under $550 USD (£340 BP). click here added the components to my baskets on Amazon and Newegg. I made one change: I changed the GPU to the one in the link below, as the one from the article is out of stock (I haven't researched this GPU, I've just added it for an estimate). Without an operating system, the subtotal for this setup is about $485 USD.

I would like to know what changes you would recommend to this template for an effective gaming PC. My absolute maximum budget is about £500 ($800 USD).

Also, I would like your opinions on Windows 7 versus Windows 8 for a gaming setup.

(Sorry, I'm new to this forum and I don't know if there is an 'Edit Post' function.)

I meant to include this link for the graphics card I mentioned: click here
