new g/card for call of duty 4

I have ftred to in stall call of duty 4
but to my error
assuming i had a 256 geforce 5500 card it would play but it will not on that card as i am getting the error message
error dueing initilation
vidoe card or driver doesnt support seperate alpha blend,glow will be disabled

what do i need to run the game
current sys info

2.4 pentien 4
256 geforce 5500 g/card
1GB ram
120 hhd
60 back up drive
on board sound

if i need to upgrade g/card
i am at pc world tomorrow
what is your recomendation

try a driver update for your card before anything else.

have updated the drivers to the latest
thats the first thing i did

Geforce 6600 is the minimum requirement,so you will need a new card.
If you are on XP then your CPU and ram are at the minimum required,so there's not much point spending a lot on a new card as you will need a new system very soon to even play the latest games.
If you have a PCI-E slot then just go for this as it's pointless throwing money at this system.
Please bare in mind that the performance you get won't do the game justice though.
