  xxtimbo 19:25 20 Nov 2005

im on xp home edition
for ages now Ive made little movies
from my videos
Ive got an s video cable into the vid
that goes into an external win tv usb device
I also have a cable for sound from the
video player to the win tv external device
I can then make a short movie using
windows movie maker
but try as I may I can never get sound
on the movies
the pics are fab but silence is all I hear.
I ve tried making movies with arcsoft video impression too but still no sound
I thought a new sound card might help
so I put in a new one last month

movies from the web play ok in the windows player with sound etc

I dare say that if I don t hear sound
coming from my comp speakers as Im recording from the video then there wont be sound on the final result
thanks for any suggestions

PS Im definitely getting a sound signal from the video I ve put it into a music centre to test etc
Is there any other movie making software I could try ?

I took this from the hauppauge site - hope it helps.

You can email if you want.

Make sure you have the latest version of the WinTV software, if you are using CD version 3.4 or older please install the latest version from the following location.
click here, then follow the steps on enabling audio over USB:

If have installed the your WinTV USB device with CD version 3.6 or above please follow the below steps:

WinTV-USB/USB FM, Enabling Audio over USB

After you complete the WinTV-USB driver installation, the default Audio setting is Digital Rec/Analog live.

This default setting requires the supplied double ended stereo cable to be connected from the Line-Out on the WinTV-USB to the Line-In on your sound card.

To enable the audio over USB, click on the Menu button and go to Audio Type and select Digital Rec+Live.

Last, you will be asked to Restart the WinTV application to have the changes take effect.
