I have a samsung s4 which I just use for calls and email. My problem which started about a week ago is that it bleeps and when I look to see why messages start flashing up on the screen for a few seconds each but continuous making it impossible to use. Things like "sign up" "google account" "unlock to continue" which I cant do anyway. A restart will get rid of it until next time, 3 or 4 times a day. On one occasion it stopped, giving the message "Peel remote has stopped working" and then it was fine again. Any clues please.

From Samsung: "The Peel Smart Remote Application is an application that turns your smart phone or tablet into a TV remote"

From click here

"The app has been strongly criticized for blasting users with lock screen ads and overlays."

"In 2017, the app introduced a malign ad practice of unethical lock screen ads and overlays"

Scroll down the page in the link to the bit that shows how to disable it

Thanks lotvic, you seem to be spot on having read the link. I can find it on the phone OK but selecting it only makes it ask for my TV make. I cannot find a remove or disable option.

I asked my son and he seems to have got rid of it. Just hope it does not come back. Thanks for your help in giving me a starting point.
