Sky+ HD Digibox

Does anyone know if a Sky+ HDD Digibox can be used without a Sky card or Sky contract as a FTA receiver / recorder?

You'll be able to watch 'free to air' progs but only after your contract runs out.

Sky don't mention this as they'd rather you pay them, at least, something.

A friend of mine allowed his contract to lapse but can still receive FTA progs.

Yes you can use the box as a standard receiver, and carry on receiving all the FTA programs.

If you wanted to use it for digital programs on other satellite, yes you can to a degree - but it's setup and lack of flexibility makes it unsatisfactory.

But without a subscription, you can't use the recording feature, and I never found a hack for this.
