PC for Photoshop elements 8

  jaydeef 12:10 27 Mar 2010

I would welcome some advice as to which PC/spec (not a portable) would be suitable for Adobe Elements 8. All in one or stand alone?
I currently use a note book that is fairly slow,
intel dual core cpu, 2048mb-2ram.
I would like to up thye size of the screen to 20 to 24 inches.
I also use the internet for browsing and writ letters etc.
As you can probably guess I am not very computer savvy

Just about any modern PC will run elements. However if you are processing 100-200Mb Tiff files you will need a little more clout.

Here's the system requirement stated by Adobe.

# 1.6GHz or faster processor
# Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or
3, Windows Vista®, or Windows 7
# 1GB of RAM
# 2GB of available hard-disk space
# Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
# 1,024x576 monitor resolution at 96dpi or less
# Microsoft DirectX 9 compatible display driver
# DVD-ROM drive

is 1 GB RAM is sufficient for a new configured PC.i think it should be at least 2 Gb so that a proper processing can be achieved.

You can never have to much ram, Adobe have listed the minimum specs.

A great deal depends of the file size from your camera, if you're using a compact then 1Gb should suffice, but if you're using one of Canons latest DSLRs with 18Mp, you will require a lot more.

Ram is relatively cheap so go for more, I've got 8Gb and still ocassionally run out of steam
