Movie from digital Camera to PC

Hi everyone
Just bought a new still camera the Panasonic Lumiz DMC-TZ3 and ahve taken some still photos and a couple of movies
I am having big problems with transfering the MOVIES to my PC and to SAVE same.
HAve tried "Super(c) but can't find a way of saving them to "my movies" Folder , Quick Time which came with the camera plays one frame then freezes
My OS is XP Pro and I also have Nero 6,Movie Maker,Photoshop CS2 but can't seem to get another working.
Does anyone know of the existence of a free software that will help me:
1. Transfer the movie clips to my computer
2. Save same so that I can share it with friends etc.
Your help will be very welcome.
Thanks in Advance

In my experience it's better to use a memory card reader then plug in the camera something like these.

As for the freezing try installing some codecs.
This is a good package that I use with it's own player.

use a memory card and reader, then drag and drop.
