I am going to buy an XBOX 360(the new one with HDMI output?), so i am currently looking for a new LCD TV to maximize the experience :) i have max £700 to spend on the tv and am currently debating between 2 very nice TV's, but which one i cant decide...

1. Samsung 37R88BD
Picture Enhancement - DNIe
Contrast - 8000 : 1 (Dynamic)
Sound type - SRS Trusurround XT
Inputs - 3xHDMI, 2xSCART, 1xComponent, 1xPC
Visible Screen Size - 37"

2. LG 37LF65
Picture Enhancement - XD Engine 2007
Contrast - 5000 : 1
Sound type - Surround Max sound technology
Inputs - 2xHDMI, 2xSCART, 1xComponent, 1xPC
Visible Screen Size - 37"

I prefer the look of the samsung but have heard it is not 1080p? but the LG is, but i heard more good reviews about the Samsung... so confused can anyone help???

Panasonic first, followed in no particular order by Toshiba, Sony and Samsung (latter two share a LCD panel manufacturing facility).

ok well apart from the samsung and the LG can people give me their opinion on the best 37" LCD screen around for under £700................

I've already told you - Panasonic...:-)

Apart from the superb display quality and excellent sound from virtually any Panny model, it's also won more Best Buy awards from a certain very, very well known consumer magazine over the past few years than any other brand.

My mate has sold a range of LCD and plasma sets from a number of top manufacturers in his shop and my regular viewing of all of them clearly demonstrates the fact that a Panasonic model represents the best.

I've already mentioned the other above average brands earlier, but you can add the name of Humax to the smaller screen size models; it also offers a superb PVR recorder (PVR 9200T) and Freeview set top box (F2-FOXT).

Stuartli and I do not agree on the relative merits of Panasonic and Sony. I can however agree with him regarding a 37 inch model by Panasonic, although you may need to wait or shop around for this really excellent TV.
