Cable/Digital reception

I have virginmedia cable TV. This is backed up by the current analogue transmissions for BBC1, 2, ITV and Ch 4. All feed into Toshiba DVD 80Gb recorder/player. This enables us to record one channel and watch another.
Analogue disappears in the not too distant future and I need to replace the analogue with digital.
Will a Freeview box do this or is there a DVD Recorder/player out there that I could use?
TIA.

If you are happy with your Toshiba then a freeview box will do fine and its cheaper.

If you have Virginmedia cable TV you already get the analogue stuff via the cable as well. Or does that mean you can't watch one channel and record another?
