Where is Tosh Sat Pro A10 available at £586 inc?

  [DELETED] 17:42 09 Dec 2003

January's PC ADVISOR magazine, best buys feature page 107 quotes a Toshiba Satelite Pro A10 with 2GHz / 30GB / 256MB / 14.1 at a price of £586 inclusive.

None of my searches can find it anywhere near this price (including Toshiba with the url in the mag). Most are £600-£700 ish, and mostly 20GB models.

Has anyone got any info?

Much appreciated

Pop into your local PC World Business Centre and they can help you out.

I don't have the magazine to hand at the moment, but are you absolutely sure the quoted price was inclusive of VAT and not inclusive of delivery but still subject to VAT ?

PC World Business have these:

Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 - C 2.2 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 20 GB - DVD - Mdm - LAN EN, Fast EN - Win XP Home - 14.1" TFT at £546, ex VAT.

Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 - C 2.2 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 30 GB - CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo - Mdm - LAN EN, Fast EN - Win XP Pro - 14.1" TFT at £645, again ex VAT.

With VAT both prices are obviously higher, and this is reflected in a similar fashion from the other online suppliers I can find.

thanks Taran & ajm

Yes, it clearly states "£586 inc VAT"

Maybe it's a typo - but its under their best buys for 2004 - and they say "we can't believe Toshiba is selling a laptop for as little as £586"...well, maybe it IS too good to be tru...

I've had a look on the Tosh website and:

Satellite Pro A10 C2.2GHz/ 256MB/ 20GB/ 14TFT/ DVD/ LAN/ XP Home, Part Number: PSA15E-01PJY-EN is currently out of stock, but listed at £ 549.00 (exc VAT

This is a higher spec model than the one reviewed.

Why not call Tosh in the morning on 0870 444 8944 and see what they say ?

If it is reviewed at that price the likelihood is that it is some kind of special deal. In fact, from the cost alone, it's a very special deal.

Give them a call and see what they say.

Rang Toshiba about this in November. They discontinued this cheaper model before then. Still, it gives you the opportunity to upgrade to a proper P4 processor!
