I have a PayPal account and have just received an email from them telling me that I have made a payment to click here. I know for certain that I have not made this transaction.

I have put in a dispute form to PayPal and changed passowrds etc.

Has anyone else had this problem?
How have they managed to access my PayPal account?

I have had similar problems and found the best way to cure them was to cancel my account completely.

Did you forward the email to PayPal's spoof checking address([email protected])to ensure that it wasn't a phishing email? I have had several emails thanking me for the payment I have made (which I hadn't) from several companines, but I forwarded the emails to the the spoof email address and all of them were found to be phising emails.

The email from PayPal was addressed to me by name and not by a generic name. According to PayPal this is one way to check if it is a spoof email.

Have checked and the transaction has been "completed". I have heard back from PayPal saying that my account has been suspended pending enquiries. I ahve changed passwords again and also the security questions.

Just heard from PayPal that the company who took the money have refunded it fully.

Good result.

Thanks for all responses.

I had the same problem a few days ago. For some reason it was refunded, but PayPal will reimburse you if it wasn't authorised.

Change passwords and secret questions/answers to both Paypal and Ebay (if you use Ebay) and send an Email to Paypal to explain, or ring them.
