Trojan Horse Agent1.AAUD

hi there,

When my daughter switches her pc on and it loads up it comes onto her desktop, as usual, but now the AVG resident shield alert pops up with Multiple threat detection.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mswsock32.dll Trojan horse Agent2.AAUD this appears twice in the pop up box
then another is added to the list everytime she uses anything on her computer. The list just keeps getting longer.

I have read all the help icons on the pop up from AVG and followed everything they say.

I have to press the remove all unhealed infections then it says i should reboot, so i do this and the same thing happens when the pc starts up.

She only has AVG free addition 9.0.

I found the file on 'my computer' C:\WINDOWS\system32\mswsock32.dll and tried to remove it but it won't let me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a bit wary of using pc much longer just in case it spreads or makes things worse.

I have recently changed from using Explorer 7 to using explorer 8, last week. Could this be where it came from? but it did only start doing this this morning.

Hope someone can help because otherwise I don't know what to do; so open to all suggestions.

thanks in advance

first of all i would try Malwarebytes, you can download it from here

Install it and let it update its database. then perform a quick scan and see what it picks up. If it finds anything then let it remove it. It may need to restart your computer to remove all of the infection.

Also A-Squared Free is excellent in rooting out any little rotters hiding on your drive. It really is an excellent program. Don't forget to update it before you do a full scan.
