Time Computer's Optimised Modems

I'm sure a few of you are aware that Time are restricting their modems to the ISP Supanet. Although it is possible to remove this restriction (but if you reload the system you have to do it all again!!!) is this legal? They do say that all customers are made aware of their so called "Advanced Modem Technology" before they purchase. Now for a first time buyer (no pun intended) this can all be a bit daunting...

Even if you are made aware of the restrictions is this still legal but more to the point morally justified?!?!!?

does not sound right to me, but then, i would not touch Time with the proverbial bargepole.

I bought a Tiny computer being aware of the "optimised modem", but not believing that re-optimising would be so difficult......
Following the thread directed by Gandalf led to a real solution. Not only fixing the problem, but educational as well. Nice one Gandalf and the crew at isx.
