Thinking about a new monitor

  BigRik 17:27 20 Jan 2006

Hi all.

I'm thinking (just thinking at the moment), of replacing my TFT monitor. It still works fine, but because I play a few games I would like a model with a better response time (currently 25ms!) and a DVI connection.

I have a couple in mind, but I would like your opinions, based on experiences, on where to get one from.

Thanks in advance.

My son bought one of these last week:

I ordered it for him late one afternoon and it arrived the following morning...:-)

States it's a nice crisp display and with just one dead pixel in a corner.

I can heartily recommend the Samsung SM 930BF. I bought it from click here;jsessionid=1543d12839656b0/shopdata/index.shopscript and it was quickly dispatched. Picture quality is excellent and it is great for games with it's 4ms response time. Also there are no pixel faults on mine.

Try this click here and then navigate to the monitor.

I'm with Mr Mistoffelees on this one.
I bought a Samsung 930BF a few months ago (4ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio) and I am absolutely delighted with it. Great value for money.
(No faulty pixels).

All I can add is - I bought a Benq FP937s a few months ago - VGA and DVI inputs - and a cable for each. I'm very pleased indeed - no dead pixels or sub-pixels. Price in Spain about €315 inc tax.

Whatever else you do, go for a 19" unit.

The Samsung 19" SM930BF with a response time of 4ms with DVI has an excellent review in PCA. This is the one I would buy, but I already have a 19" Iiyama E481S TFT.

It is well worth paying the extra for a 19" rather than a 17" - makes viewing a pleasure !

Just got this and have been using for 1+ day. Very pleased with the 16:10 ratio, 1,440x900 resolution, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast.

Part of a new PC bundle so don't know best vendor just for the monitor.

I don't play games on it but would imagine the widescreen aspect to fit newer games pretty well?

I bought the Samsung 930bf as well, highly recommend like looking at a picture, and very fast for game play. No dead pixels and all possible cables included.

Samsung SM913N,
8ms response <£190 click here

I suggest the 930BF with its digital input and better response time for not a lot more cash than the (also nice) 913N.
