Symantec UK rip off

Having decide to upgrade my Norton Anti-Virus 2002 to the 2004 edition I discovered I could download the upgrade from the Symantec UK website for £29.99. Luckily, befofe I did so I checked their US website. The identical download is available for 29.99 dollars, half the price of the UK version. Even with VAT being added it cost the equivalent of £19.99 to get the same software, that's a £10 saving. I downloaded the US version successfully. Perhaps Symantec might want to justify this discrepancy and explain why they feel UK customers should pay more than our US cousins. How many other companies are charging excessive prices in the UK for the same software.

I find that it pays to do this sort of price comparison check with our American cousins. Did a check once with a Lexmark printer, and found a good price difference. Only problem, by the time you have imported the item, if possible, the price difference is lost, plus no warranty comeback.

Suggest you do not use the words 'rip off' in this Forum. Strictly against the Site Policy. Expect a response from the FE.

What words would you use then?

If Symantec can come back with a valid reason why their software costs 50% more in the UK then I am happy to apologise for the words "rip off". Maybe the extra money goes to pay for the free Lion King DVD's they are advertising at the head of this page. Only just noticed that

Some of the reason could be the $ is extremely low againt the £. I noticed on Scan click here the OEM version of Norton AV 2004 is £13.22, what the disadvantages are I do not know.

I know ,is that the pro edition is ten times better than the normal???!!!

Probably the same words in private conversion but not in this Forum where they are not allowed. The FE has closed threads before now where taboo words/phrases are used. Other than that I agree with Hellfire's comments.

But its this the same with all countries. Wine, beer and ciggys are cheaper in France, hence people go on "booze cruises". Doesn't make prices here a rip off.
