speakers 2.1 or 5.1

at the moment i have a very old logic3 sceen beat sub 50 which is 2 speakers and sub woofer all in one an early 2.1
i have decided to upgrade i have two questions
i want to spend about £60 but for something special i would go a bit higher
most of the use is games but my pc does have dvd drive and broadband so i have started listing to music
1. do i go for more expensive 2.1 or a cheaper 5.1
2. which model creative, logitech, videologic,

almost forgot i have gigabyte board with ac97 built in sound which does alow me to use 5.1

hmmm videoogic 500 speakers are quite cheap or creative 5100 not quite as good but i prefer the look of them

I would suggest going for 5.1 sound, at least for DVD playing (and gaming if you are into that).

Get a decent set of 5.1 and you will not regret it.

Morgans have the ZXR-500 for about £35 today - they are as new (catalogue returns they say).

I bought the Videologic ZX 500 5.1 speakers last year when they where £75.00, even at that price they are excellent value for money.

They are half the price now, well recommended. Only problem is all speaker controls are on the front of the sub unit and are separate for each channel.

ZX 550 have separate controls for each channel, but once set up have the advantage of a master volume control. J.
