To add to Graham's post [appologies to Graham for stealing post!], you can help reduce the problem with stolen property in particular mobile phones by using the IME check. On the mobile key-in *#06# and that should show you the unique coding number for that mobile, which your service provider will use to bar any calls via a stolen unit. More details click here
