Micro Direct Ltd UK
"200 GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 SATA lead free UDMA150 8MB Cache"

1 Is this good value at under £60?

Seems to me that it is...

2 - Does "lead" free mean that it comes without cables or without "lead" as in the latin plumbum - a dangerous metal?

I ask this because I have no cables and wondered about factoring in the cost of cables too..

2) It means "Pb free" - meets new EC regulations for the environmental disposal, or something like that!

1) It's reasonably good value - you might save a quid by shopping around.

1.5) You WILL need a SATA data cable AND a power cable (if your machine doesn't have such a thingy spare).

You might find Ebuyer

works out cheapest for cables (88119 in the stock code box) and the drive 89524 combined. I've not had problems with Ebuyer, indeed they have been very good, fast with delivery, and good with returns.

However, you will hear some anti-Ebuyer voices on here... true of any online retailer in fact.

bjh - thanks for the clarification - I was unsure.

Going to check around for what's on offer but I got that one in the email.
