My "A" Drive has disappeared

  [DELETED] 08:46 31 Dec 2003

My PC no longer recognises the "A" drive. Nowhere to be found. Can't copy to or from floppies any longer. I recently had the RAM upgraded and whether as a result of this a wire has become disconnected I don't know. The guy who did the upgrade for me doesn't want to know either! Any ideas?

Boot to bios, usually tap <DEL> key on post.

Navigate bios

Usually CMOS setup
Make sure Diskette Drive A = 3 1/2inch

Usually Advanced Bios Features
Set first boot device to floppy

Insert any old floppy

Save and Exit

If it is a non bootable diskette, then hopefully you should get 'non system boot disk'. What this would mean is the floppy drive works, if it ignores the floppy disk completly the drive is not plugged in correctly or faulty.

I forgot to mention - if it works.. it means it's a software problem, but find that out first.
