MalwareBytes- Value?

  jack 10:20 06 Jun 2010

Revising my protection setup.
MalawareBytes comes in three flavours
Free, Pay a bit, Pay some more

Which do you use and why?
Do the paid
for bits offer value?

Full version gives you full time protection and as far as I know it is a one off payment.
If you scan for Coupon codes you can get it that bit cheaper.

  birdface 11:26 06 Jun 2010

£5 cheaper if you use that coupon code.

looks like it still works.
All in capitals.

I use the free one, alongside Superantispyware and Spywareblaster. Seems to work well, as long as you regularly update it and scan.

  sunnystaines 11:49 06 Jun 2010

keep to the free one.

  birdface 12:39 06 Jun 2010

Do the paid
for bits offer value.
They will give you full time protection that the free version doesn't.
They should stop anything from downloading on to your computer while you are Browsing.
I always work it as any free Anti-Virus and any 1 pay for Anti-Malware program.
Not sure what you have but WOT and Winpatrol are a couple of free handy programs to have.

Zone Alarm Security Suite - the full monty
So from what has been said the 'Free' version may be enough

  birdface 15:00 06 Jun 2010

No.But it may interfere with any other programs with full time protection.
You would really need to ask some one that has zone Alarm.
Not one Security Suite will stop all problems hence the need of back up programs.
Although it covers Spyware it will not give you the protection that you need.
Every one has their own opinion and indeed some only have a Security Suite for protection and swear that it is enough.
But the choice is yours if you are happy with what you have that is your choice.
I am just putting my point of view which is it would not be my choice.
Like others have said they are quite happy with the free ones.

More mulling to do I guess

If you are paying for a security suit (eyes raised) then the free version of MBAM is your only choice as it will conflict with the anti spyware/malware real time scanner of your suit.
