Laptop for an engineer

  Seorr 00:15 23 Aug 2014

I just started studying to become a computer engineer and need a new laptop for school. Right now i have no idea what to get. My requirements would be something light and portable around 1000 bucks. Budget might also get tight so im looking for something that will last a couple of years. I will probably be using it mostly for programming in java, c++, .NET...etc.

Around 1000 bucks, so I assume you are US based. If this is the case, then perhaps a search in your own area will bring some rewarding results that might suit you better.

School and other pupils can be a whole host of information, including what is the best software that would be more suitable to your needs. The school itself might even have offers or an IT department, that may have the answers given to fellow students?.

The PCA archives have quite a lot of information, because the question you have raised is nearly a weekly subject, so perhaps a look in the archives might bring some results, that might fit your request?.

Check what the course advises as a minimum spec or recommends for the course.
