Laptop Buying Advice: Are Lenvo, Fujitsu or Medion good brands?

  big_smile 10:57 09 May 2015

My mum is looking for a new Windows laptop. Current Machine

  • HP Probook 4530s (2011)
  • 2.3 GHZ (i3_2350M)
  • 15 inch screen
  • 4GB ram

She mainly uses it for web surfing, Youtube plus her accountancy software which quite old.

She finds her current machine far too slowly. Websites can take a whole minute to load up. It also seems to be falling apart - the built in Wifi has gone, the USB ports rarely work and the battery has lots most of its charge. These problems started immediately 13 months after buying it.

I know an SSD can improve performance. I know it's easy to fit, but I'd rather buy one that has it built in.

She has a budget of approx £500. Any recommendations? Here are some I have found

Fujitsu Lifebook A544 - £469.94

  • i5-4210M - 2.6GHZ
  • 4GB Ram
  • 128GB SSD

Levono Flex 2 - £429

  • i5-4210U - 1.7/2.7 GHZ
  • 6GB RAM
  • 500 SSHD (Hybrid)

MEDION AKOYA P6647 - £449

  • i5-4210M - 2.6GHZ
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128 SSD + 1TB

Will any of these be decent? Does anyone have any other recommendations? My main priority is speed of operating, but also quality. I don't want the new machine to fall apart like her HP one did.
