Is it safe to charge my Kindle using a mains/USB adapter? The output on my adapter is 5v +/-5% and max 400mA, and the input on the Kindle seems to be 5.25v 500mA max.
"Is it safe to charge my Kindle using a mains/USB adapter?"
I have never charged mine in any other way. The Kindle comes with its own mains/usb charger.
Always risky disagreeing with the FE but the £89 Kindle does not come with mains charger.
Yes it will be ok.
As Woolwell said the £89 Kindle does NOT come with a chager, just the USB cable.
Has to be max of 5 volts output. ( Pretty sure)

You can use an iPod mains charger if you have one; it has a USB slot

One quick point re iPod chargers.
Some of the early iPod chargers had 12v output. I found this out to my cost when I plugged a Sony phone into a iPod car charger, the phone didn't take kindly to this and promptly died...
