ION Audio Film 2 SD scanner

Someone please tell me that the review in July 2009 PC Advisor is rubbish regarding scan resolution.

It looks that way, a lot of these cheap film scanners simply take a photo of the slide.

From click here the specifications are:

High-resolution 5MP, 2592 x 1680 scanne

Thanks Alan. I know you get what you pay for but it was the review statement that scanning at 96 dpi somehow translated to 400 dpi for a 10x8 print. Scanning at 96 dpi would produce abstract pictures at 10x8. Anyway you confirm the much more sensible 5 Mp resolution.

maybe you're missing the point of this scanner. It's to convert 35mm slides for viewing on a PC not for printing.

Having said that of the two reviews I managed to find, one called it "crap" and the other a fun item.

because it appears regularly in the 'Reader Offer 'ads in the national press and the likes of Maplin also offer it.
I guess naming it a 'Scanner' is the misnomer
Slide viewer is better - but at the price a proper 'scanner with slide/negative facility would be a better purchase.
