Hello,

Have you recently experienced inflation in the UK?

I have seen several products in Hi-Fi, but also PC DVD Writers, Memory cards, Mobile Phones, LCD screens whom prices have not gone down since a long time.

LAST TIME I have seen some prices going DOWN was in the weeks before CHRISTMAS 2003.

Do you feel the same?

Generally noticed wireless kit coming down in price. Ie DG834G started about £130 came down to £120, £110 and can now be picked up for £100. DVD writers are getting faster all the time, and therefore dropping in price for the older ones. Even the new faster ones can be picked up for £70-£90

Hi-Fi:
Prices stopped to decrease in the last months

Memory cards:
Prices stopped to decrease in the last months

LCD screens:
Prices increased last year (there was a shortage)

Mobile Phones
Ex: MOTOROLA V525 VODAFONE PAY AS YOU GO MOBILE
I ordered it for £139.95 at click here on 26-Feb-04
Price has been increased to £199.95.
click here has also increased the price of this phone in the same proportion.
Another example:
SAGEM MYV65 VODAFONE PAY AS YOU GO MOBILE
Was £99.99 at click here on 26-Feb-04. It is now £149.99

PC DVD Writers:
Prices do not decrease that quickly

Price of Sony DRX 530UL - the one I am contemplating to buy - has not changed for weeks.

Its a external drive thats why it isn't coming down in price. More demand for internal, therefore more competion for prices and innovation. Less so on external products.

Mobile phones?

Don't know wouldn't buy a pay as you go too expensive! By the time you factor the cost of the phone in, you may as well take out a contract for a year, then chop it in and start again the next year. Never pay for mobiles. Only have them if they are free!

You maybe right.

It still appears that the price of the phone has been increased by £60 AFTER I did order it.
And that Phones4U is doing its best to avoid to honour the contract...
